When most people think of meal prep, they think of mushy rice with boiled chicken for the eighth time this week – but it doesn’t have to be like that. All meal prep takes is just preparing a large amount of food and keeping it in your fridge or freezer until you’re hungry.
Think about it – it’s a lot easier to prepare 6 sandwiches at once than it is to prepare 6 individual sandwiches – instead of having to clean dishes, preheat ovens and pans, and bake foods 6 individual times, you can do it all at once, saving both time and frying oil.
Last weekend I followed this recipe and made a set of 6 English muffin sandwiches that I ate for breakfast for the next two weeks. It took me less than 45 minutes, and I had a nice meal whenever I got hungry for the rest of the week. If you wanted to, you could scale this up even bigger – cooking 12, maybe even 20 sandwiches simultaneously and having on-demand healthy food for the rest of the week.
Nowadays, many high schoolers have lost the ability to cook. Thus, they tend to rely on food delivery services such as Uber Eats and Doordash or fast food restaurants like McDonald’s and Arby’s, for convenience’s sake.
For many people, it seems a lot easier to go to Burger King and get a frozen burger that’s been under a heat lamp for a half hour or click a few buttons on your phone than to cook a whole meal – and that’s because it is! Meal prep is the best way around this – you skip the cooking and get straight to a tasty meal in minutes.
